2018 Canal Days Queen Pageant Contestants

 

Contestant #1: Kylie O'Connor

In the fall, Kylie will be a sophomore at Delphos St. John's High School and is the daughter of Jodi Coleman and Sean O'Connor. She is very active in the Blue Jay Marching Band and the track team.  Kylie is a member of the Junior Optimists and the CRESPI Society and spends her spare time employed at Jack's Pizza and the Delphos Pool. This is Kylie's first year competing in the pageant and her Little Princess is Ava Gallmeier.

 

 

Contestant #2: Alexa Chung

As a member of Jefferson's class of 2012, Alexa is very active in many activities in school, including soccer, track, FCA, Show Choir and student council. Alexa is also very involved in her church youth group and teaches children's church. She provides child care and has been employed at the Creamery. She is the daughter of Howard and Angie Chung. This is Alexa's first year competing in the pageant and her little princess is Audra Deitering.

 

Contestant #3: Lauren Grothaus

Lauren Is returning to the pageant for her second year as a senior from Delphos Jefferson. She is active in cheerleading and enjoys being involved in the school musicals, choir and show choir. Lauren was selected as the 2018 Buckeye Girls Stae Representative from Delphos and is active in NHS, FBLA, Dance and volunteers at D.A.R.E Camp and with various projects in her church. She is the daughter of Kevin and Christina Grothaus. Lauren's little princess is Mara Ryan

 

Contestant #4: Lakin Stevenson

As a member of the class of 2019, Lakin is representing both St. John's and Vantage Career Center, competing for her third year in the Canal days Pageant.  She is the daughter Gina Liming and Joseph Burns and is currently studing criminal justice at Vantage, where she also serves as a student ambassador. Lakin enjoys dancing and exercising and is a member of track and cross-Country teams.  She is employed at Lilly Swank Salon. Lakin's Little Princess is Eily Ousley.

 

Contestant #5: Rachel Kroeger

Rachel is the daughter of Michelle Kroeger and Ron Kroeger and will be entering her senior year at Delphos Jefferson in the fall. She is very involved in the Wildcat cheerleading squads, as well as various other clubs and organizations including FFA, FBLA, Junior Optimists, Show Choir and the school musicals. She is employed by the Creamery and also provides child care. This is Rachel's second year competing in the Canal Days Pageant and her little princess is Emma Mueller.

 

Contestant #6: Kara Gossman

Kara is the daughter of Greg and Kay Gossman and is a member of the junior class at Delphos Jefferson. She is very artistic and enjoys being involved in the music program, including choir, musical and solo and ensemble contest. She is active in the Junior Optimist and scholastic bowl teams. This is Kara's first year competing in the Canal Days Pageant and her little princess is Meah Osting.

 

Contestant #7:  Audryanna Stewart

Audryanna is entering her junior year at Delphos Jefferson and will be competing for the first time in the Canal Days Pageant. She is a member of the Varsity basketball team is very active in the music program. Audryanna plays the flute and piano as well as sings. She is involved with both the choir and show choir and has competed in solo and ensemble contest.  Audryanna is also involved in the school musical and band programs. She is the daughter of Erin and Malcolm Stikes and her little princess is her sister Elayna Stokes.

 

 

Contestant #8: Skye Stevenson

Skye is the daughter of Jeremy and Kelly Stevenson and is a senior at Delphos St. John's. She is involved in choir and participates in the school musical and solo and ensemble programs. Skye is also involved in competition cheer at Van Wert All Stars and travels across town to play on the Wildcat Varsity Softball team.  She is involved in FBLA and girls scouts. Skye is employed at Vancrest and Illy Swank Salon. She is competing for her secong year in the Canal Days Pageant. Her little princess is Gabby DeVelvis

 

Contestant #9: Michaela Shawhan

Michaela is a shphmore at Delphos St. John's and is competing for the first time in the Canal Days pageant. She is a member of 4-H where she enjoys horseback riding and serving on the Allen County Junior Fair Board. Michaela is also a member of the Blue Jay soccer team and marching band. When able she spends her spare time working at Jack's Pizza. She is the daughter of Tina and Mike Shawhan. Michaela's little princess is Gracie Wagner.

 

 


Contestant #7: Annette Klausing

Annette is the daughter of Charlie and Barbara Klausing and entering her senior year at Delphos St. Johns, where she is a member of the Blue Jay Soccer Team. Annette is also very active in the Junior Optimist, CRESPI Society, Art Club and Liturgy Team. She serves as team captain for the soccer team, and was nominated to the National Honor Society. Annette has been a student council representative, is an honors student and school musical for three years. During the school year, Annette tutors others and spends any free time drawing, painting, and reading. After graduation, Annette plans to attend college to obtain a degree and pursue her dream job.


Contestant #8: Lakin Stevenson

Lakin is the daughter of Gina Stevenson and Joe Burns, and is currently a junior at Delphos St. Johns. She is a member of the Track and Cross Country team, and spends her winters working as a statistician for the Blue Jay Wrestlers. Lakin enjoys dancing, as well as singing in the choir. In her free time, she enjoys riding dirt bikes, and having campfires with her family and friends. In the fall, Lakin is planning to attend Vantage Career Center. Following high school, Lakin is hoping to attend college through the ROTC program to join the Air Force. She plans on using this as a stepping stone to continue her education, studying criminal justice in order to become a probation officer.


Contestant #9: Skye Stevenson

Skye is currently a junior at Delphos St. Johns and is the daughter of Kelly and Jeremy Stevenson. Skye is a member of volleyball team, and has served as a football cheerleader, and plays softball. She is very active in the school musical and has competed in Solo and Ensemble competition through choir. Skye is a statistician for wrestling and is a member of the Girl Scouts. She enjoys taking care of both children and animals, and keeps herself busy with volunteering, school, and work. After graduation next year, Skye plans to join the Air Force and then attend college to become a Surgeon.


Contestant #10: Holly Dellinger

Holly is the daughter of Scott and Michele Dellinger and is entering her senior year at Delphos Jefferson. As a very active member of the music program, Holly enjoys choir, band, and marching band, as well as taking private piano lessons. She is also involved in the school musicals, appearing as Taylor McKessie in “High School Musical” and most recently Mrs. Potts in “Beauty and the Beast.” Holly cheers on the Wildcats as a member of the Varsity Cheerleading squads squads, and is active in the FFA program. Holly volunteers at the Trinity United Methodist Church, as a church camp counselor, and the Delphos Public Library. Holly plans to attend college after high school and study musical theater and education.
