2019 Canal Days Queen Pageant Contestants
Contestant #1: Jenia Freewalt
Jenia Freewalt is the daughter of Jason and Erika Freewalt and a senior at Delphos St. Johns High School. As a Blue Jay she is active on the cross country and track teams, band and school musical. Jenia is also a member of the Junior Optimists, Liturgy Team, National Honor Society, Student Council and choir. She is currently employed as a lifeguard at the Delphos pool and comes from a large family. Her siblings include: Marcus, Isaiah, Mariska, Amaya, Nicolette and Evana, This is Jenia's first year competing in the pageant and her little princess is Autumn Tucker.
Contestant #2: Cassidy Werts
Cassidy Werts is the daughter of Tim and Cory Werts and is a junior at Delphos St Johns. She is very active on the Blue Jay Golf and Basketball teams, and is also involved in Student Council, FBLA, SADD, FTA, Liturgy Team and the Junior Optimists. Cassidy has two siblings, Lydia and TJ Werts and is employed at the Delphos pool and volunteers at local hospitals. This is Cassidy's first year competing in the pageant and her little princess is Eily Ousley.
Contestant #3: Kara Gossman
Kara Gossman is the daughter of Kay Wilhelm and Greg Gossman and is a senior at Delphos Jefferson. She is active in the quiz bowl, school musical, choir, show choir, National Honor Society and the Wildcat Warriors program. She is extremely artistic and enjoys painting, listening to music and playing the piano. Kara currently babysits in her free time and has two brothers, Trey and Trenten Gossman and soon to be sister-in-law, Emily. Kara's little princess is her cousin Molly Kill and this will be her second year competing in the pageant.
Contestant #4: Melanie Gerdeman
Melanie Gerdeman is currently a freshman at Delphos St. Johns and is the daughter of Mandy and Dan Gerdeman. She is very active in choir, quiz bowl and art club, and is also a member of the Blue Jay Basketball team and marching band. Melanie is currently a Mission Society Representative and a cantor and lector at St. Johns church. She has two sisters, Amber and Samantha and works at her family's business, Gerdeman TV. This is her first year in the pageant and Melanie's little princess is Lucy Sully.
Contestant #5: Alexa Chung
Alexa Chung is the daughter of Angie Chung and the late Howard Chung and is currently a junior at Delphos Jefferson. As a Wildcat, Alexa is active on soccer and track teams and as a wrestling statistician. She is also a memebr of the choir and show choir, student council and serves as a photographer for the yearbook. Alexa is very involved in her church and youth group and volunteers teaching Sunday School as a worship leader for the Youth Group. She has two siblings, Cooper and Lizzie and this is her second year in the pageant. Alexa's little princess is Aubree Gallmeier.
Contestant #6: Audryanna Stewart
Audryanna Stewart is a senior at delphos Jefferson and is the daughter of Erin and Malcolm Stokes and Jeff Phillips. She is very active musician, in the band, choir, show choir, solo and ensemble contest, and through private lessons. Audryanna is also a member of the Lady Wildcat basketball team, National Honor Society, prom committee class officer and junior Optimist. She keeps active playing on various summer basketball teamsand is involved in her church youth group and music program. This is Audryanna's second year in the pageant and she has three siblings, Claire, Elayna, and Zion Stokes. Her little princess is Lanie Ricker.
Contestant #7: Rileigh Rahrig
Rileigh Rahrig is competing for the first time in the Canal Days pageant and is a junior at Delphos Jefferson. She enjoys competition dance and is a member of the softball team and cheer squad. Rileigh is also a member of Student council and Junior Optimist and has received various awards from local art shows. She serves as an umpire for local softball games and also babysits. Rileigh is the daughter of Ben and Jamie Rahrig and has on sister, Avery. Her little princess is Emma Mueller.
Contestant #8: Michaela Shawhan
Michaela Shawhan is the daughter of Tina and Mike Shawhan and is currently a junior at Delphos St. Johns. She is amember of the 4-H Program where she enjoys horseback riding and competition, while serving on the Allen County Junior Fair Board. Michaela is also a memebr of the Blue Jay Soccer Team and a memebr of the drum line for marching band. This is her second year competing in the pageant and her little princess is her niece, Lilly Ketcham.
Contestant #9: Kylie O'Connor
Kylie O'Connor is a junior at Delphos St. Johns and is the daughter of Jodi and Heath Coleman and Sean O'Connor. She is the field commander for the 2019 Blue Jay marching band and is a member of the soccer team and volunteers as a wrestling statistician. Kylie enjoys photography and works on the school yearbook. She is involved with the CRESPI Society and the Junior Optimist. This will be Kylie's second year competing in the pageant and her siblings include Kobe O'Connor and Maddie and Logan Coleman. Her little princess is Whitlee Diltz.
